I have a Drupal site that requires a specific way of handling incoming RSS feeds. I have been testing both the built-in Aggregator module as well as the third part "Aggregation" module. Neither seems to meet my needs:
1. The core Aggregator module shows body text as raw HTML rather than text. That is unusable.
2. The third part Aggregation module has at least the following bug:
1. Taxonomy and Catgory assignment does not function. THese items are not saved to the database when a feed is created/edited and therefore feed items are not assigned correctly.
and, judging from the Issues page on [login to view URL], a lot more that I have yet to stumble across.
What I need is for feed functionality meeting the following criteria.:
1. Multiple feeds.
There will be many pages on the Drupal site all with news from various areas of an industry.
2. Categorization of feeds
I must be able to somehow associate feeds with specific menu items. Users must be able to click on a menu link to be taken to a page with news that pertains to that menu link.
2. Categorization of feed items
There must be a way for a human administrator to review each individual news item and:
2a. Remove it entirely from the site
2b. Move it to another category (effectively moving it to a different page)
2c. Copy it to another category (effectively assigning it more than one page)
It seems to me that Drupal core Taxonomy module would be an effective way to do categorization, but I am open to suggestions.
Also, please note that just because I started with the Aggregation module, you don't have to use it. If you know of - or can make - a module that hits all our requirements, then feel free to use it. I am paying to get this thing working, not for how it works.
Results are needed quickly as this bug has put us off schedule.
