I'm starting a blog directory and need a script to accept pings. I would like to be able to accept pings from blogs listed within the directory - but only blogs listed within the directory. I also want to be able to publish an automatically updating "recently updated" list of the last 5-10 blogs within the directoy to update/send a ping. The recently updated list needs to be customizable in it's look and feel so I can use it seamlessly across several sites, and needs to be static so search engines can read it. I will retain full copyright to the finished project and ask that you comment your code. My server is Linux. Please let me know if you have any questions or if my request needs clarification. Also estimate the completion date of the project, and when you can begin working on it. Edited to add/clarify: (1) I don't need the script to run the directory. I'll be using this: [login to view URL] The script only needs to manage the pinging aspect of the site. (2) I won't be pulling ping data from other ping servers, like PingOMatic, [login to view URL] etc. (3) I want to be able to turn on/off the feature that only allows the site to accept pings from those blogs that are listed in the directory. This site is within a specified topic and thus I only want blogs listed in the directory to ping the site, so that it remains on topic. However, I may later want to start a site that accepts pings from anyone - a site that isn't about a particular topic - and would like to be able to turn that feature off so I can still use the same script.
