We need to audit all email that is arriving or leaving the network. To facilitate this we have decided to install a postfix (or similar) server on the perimeter of the network. All email that arrives from the internet will arrive on this server. You will configure this server to receive the email. Place the email in a local folder. You will then take a copy of the message. Split up the header details / attachments etc and insert the message into a mysql database. You will then move the mail message to another folder and instruct the mail server to deliver it to its original destination. You will provide documented code. where you have used existing third party code, you will reference it correctly and provide proof of free to use for commercial purposes. We will use a similar server on the outbound email.

Hi, Can help you with your project since have already done something similar, copying all inbound and outbound emails from a network to a dedicated audit account. The message flow needs to be exactly this? Since to copy messages to a folder, then extract and only the copy to another folder and let the message be delivered seems to need two separated mail servers or queues, you can simplify taking a copy of each message and delivering the copy to a pre-audit software that will extract headers, body and attachments to a MySQL database as you like.
