I need a micro-blogging social-networking light-weight web application like twitter (standard activity like follower-following relationship, newsfeed, profile etc.). I will prefer to start with an open source tool (like Buddypress etc.) and then customizing it as required. If you have any experience in developing a social network website or a demo page to show for POC (proof as concept), please let me know. This is a big project that I would like to start-test with around 30 users as followers following a single person and then extending it one step at a time.
