I need to make a slight modification to the DB...I'll explain how I need something to function, and then how I thought we could accomplish this. If you think of a better way, please feel free to run it by me.
I am in the process of signing up Elementary Schools, for their own fundraiser type travel sites. They have the same needs, as far as the banner goes, but since they are NON PROFIT ORGs, they are not allowed to sign up accounts underneath them. Therefore, their YTB signup link that gets populated throughout the T4U website, is a dead link. I was thinking of leaving it as the T4U default, so parent sign ups are under the default (me), but since I eventually will be working with other people in the YTB company to sign up schools in other states, etc... Those accounts need to use that other YTB member's sign-up URL to populate the rest of the site for those school accounts that they close. I hope that all makes sense.
Since the YTB URL field in the DB currently serves 2 functions, (1)Display the individual YTB booking engine, (2)customize the sign up links in the rest of the T4U site, it needs to be separated. I don't want to modify the sign up page, leaving the fields alone there, but would rather add a check box to the "Edit Your Profile" page that simply says "Non-Profit Organization"... when that checkbox gets clicked, it displays another field allowing the sign-up page to be modified from the default, (which should be the same as the YTB URL originally submitted on the sign up page). The text below regarding the Passport 2 Giving program, should only display when the check box is filled. If the checkbox is not filled when saved, then the YTB usernames should be the same in both URLs.
I guess I need 2 fields added to the DB. A non-profits checkbox field, and a YTB Sponsor URL. The YTB Sponsor URL field will default to "[login to view URL]" which uses the yourYTBsite that was originally input in the YTB URL field, would populate 2 fields in the DB. The check box being checked will unlock the YTB Sponsor URL to be changed to a different YTB username, but it will always be "[login to view URL]"
The [sponsor_url] feature that follows a user around the T4U site will have to access the new YTB Sponsor URL field instead of the YTB Booking Engine URL field.
What do you think? Does that make sense? Send me an email, I'll keep explaining it.
I've mocked up the edit user profile page with the new inputs... obviously I haven't added the fields to the db or made anything functional yet.
