The open source Epic Unreal Github has the C code for opening uassets since that is the source of truth and it is open source, so you can see exactly how uasset files containers are structured. The project can use as a base if it wants to however that project will need to be updated to support Unreal 5.3/5.4 before you can extend it as it doesn't understand the later uasset file changes. The license of the final library must be MIT or Apache.
